Cause-Cart homePage

Cause-Cart is on a mission to be the #1 socially + environmentally conscious marketplace site for people who are frustrated with the waste and excess from major e-tailers. My team has been asked by Cause-Cart to assess the usability of their website. We took on this project and evaluated the websites usability with three key user demographics: ethically minded individuals from Generation X, Generation Z, and Millennial online shoppers.

The Focus of This Project

The primary objective of this project is to assess the usability of the public Cause-Cart website. Out of the eight participants, seven were interviewed via Zoom, and one participant had an in-person interview. Each interview session had a duration of 30 minutes. During these sessions, participants were given specific tasks to evaluate Cause-Cart.com. These tasks were designed to assess the website's usability and the consistency and visibility of information within it. After completing these tasks, participants were encouraged to vocalize their thoughts and emotions about the website, sharing their insights as they went along.

Why This Project

I undertook this project for Cause-Cart with the goal of understanding how users interacted with their website and where improvements could be made. Essentially, I wanted to make their website more user-friendly. To achieve this, I conducted interviews and tasks, which provided me with valuable insights. This helped me uncover both the strengths and weaknesses of Cause-Cart's website. By sharing these insights, my aim is to provide Cause-Cart with the information they need to make informed decisions. I believe that this feedback will be crucial in enhancing the user experience and making their website more user-centric. In summary, this project served as a way to collect user feedback, assess the current state of the website, and pave the way for meaningful improvements that will create a more user-friendly platform.

What I Learned

While working on this project, I learned techniques for conducting effective remote and face-to-face interviews to gather insights. I extensively utilized the think-aloud method, encouraging participants to verbalize their thoughts during tasks for deeper understanding. Additionally, I conducted usability testing, summarized the findings, and provided actionable recommendations. I communicated these findings and recommendations to stakeholders and clients.
